I've started writing songs again after a really long time. I usually don't let people hear my songs cos I've always been so self-conscious of them, but I think I'm ready to step out of my comfort zone and give it a go. Fingers crossed!
So recently I've been getting questions from people about whether my works are for sale.
I've actually been thinking about putting up my stuff for sale online, just that I've been too busy to research about prices and sites for that. But no more! :D I'm putting up my works for sale at charlottehon.bigcartel.com I'm just getting started though, so currently I can only put up 5 pieces for sale, but if I get more orders I'll probably get the upgrade so I can start selling more work. Stay tuned for more! :D Just a few works in progress - my main concern with drawings is that I have problems figuring out what to do for the backgrounds so it always takes me a while before I finish a full drawing :/ I actually drew this like almost 2 years ago but I've lost my files at least twice a year because of technical issues (I have the worst luck with that), plus I don't have a harddrive (yet), but I found this in my friend's thumbdrive so I decided to give it a go again recently. This is probably one of the most colourful pieces I've done (or am doing). I usually go for more muted pastel colours or dark monochromes. I bought the Fashion Design book by Ballistic Publishing and I got really inspired to try out Loish's colouring style. I kinda feel like I can stop doing stuff with it but it still feels a bit empty somehow so I'll probably just leave it alone and come back to it in a couple of months. Went for a really soft ethereal feel for this one - I actually spent about 2 hours making sure my pencil lines weren't too thick so that I wouldn't have to clean it up too much after i scanned it. Still trying to decide if I should put her in an actual environment (which would take ages to paint) or just a textured background. Just for laughs though, a friend of mine photoshopped the Eye of Sauron into the background lol. This actually started out as a practice for drawing profiles, but I quite like how it's looking so far, so I probably just need to work a bit more on the colours. Ravenna from Snow White and the Huntsman. Didn't care much for the movie but Charlize Theron is a boss and she was what made the movie not flop. That and the track that Florence and the Machine did for the movie. This was one half of a collab with a friend (check out her stuff here!). We'd been thinking of doing a collab since last year but we finally came up with a theme to work on - I got really inspired by tribal patterns so we wanted to really show off some off the textures and themes. Each of us took 2 seasons/elements, so I did Spring/air and Winter/water, and Kit did Summer/fire and Autumn/earth. This is just a rough digital palette guide for when we do the final colours in watercolours. I guess that's pretty much it for now. I usually do my drawings in pencil then colour digitally in Photoshop. I actually have a lot more WIPs but they're not really ready for anything yet so yeah.
I've never been able to keep up a blog so we'll see how this goes and hopefully I have enough momentum to keep it going. Until next time. |
